Returning to my old stomping ground at Queen Square today to talk about a career in academia as part of a careers day for early career neuroscientists. There is a live stream/youtube broadcast somewhere – will post that link when I find it…

Just finished listening to the Ian McDonald memorial lecture here at the MS Frontiers meeting in Bath. A truly fascinating journey through the ins and outs of remyelination from Catherine Lubetzki. Excellent lecture, and outstanding science.
I’m in Bath for a couple of days attending the MS Society frontiers meeting, lots of fascinating talks to look forward to and lots of important lessons for the Parkinson’s research community.
I spent a very pleasant afternoon in Oxford on Thursday, listening to Selina Wray from UCL talk about her very exciting research into dementia at the Alzheimer’s Research UK drug discovery institute. Fascinating seminar (and a lovely cycle through the sunshine to Reading afterwards).
Congratulations to Dr Dorien Roosen (seen here with her viva voce examiners Francesco Tamagnini and Matthew Seaman) – great job Dorien!
As an addendum, Rachael has some more public science stuff planned in just over a week (on the 8th of June), see the link below for details.

Following on from Pint of Science last week, Rachael from the lab was interviewed by Thames Valley News about her work – the video for which is below:
And just out in FEBS Journal, Dorien from the group (based over at NIH with Mark Cookson) has written a lovely review on DNAJ proteins and parkinsonism. Link below (and this one is open access).

Just out at the Journal of Physiology, an article on LRRK2 and pleiotropy – the article is available here:

But at the moment isn’t open access. I’ll post an update if that changes.
A great evening yesterday listening to Rachael Chandler from the lab giving a pint of science talk on worms and Parkinson’s, swiftly followed by Selina Wray from UCL talking about brains in a dish. Awesome talks, and a bonza venue.
